about

Coyote Camaro "Burn Baby, Burn!"

The Midwest is a lovely place to escape from. If you have the opportunity to hit the road, Coyote Camaro’s first release, “Burn Baby, Burn” is a mandatory traveling companion. The melody and riffage used by the Chicago based band will reignite the flame inside of the nomads, and will inspire the homebodies to go and try something different for once in their miserable lives. The band is fronted by Jim Ford and Brian Jarvis, but backed up by some equally talented friends and fellow musicians. They will satisfy your need for heavy drums and distorted bass and rectify any issues you may have with vocals and melodies that sound like an afterthought. Clap along to “White Boy Can’t Dance” or don’t. Be warned: If you decide against clapping along, you will find yourself snapping your fingers on 1 and 3, Whitey. When you reach “Apex”, you’ll wish that you had thrown your gum out the window instead of in the ashtray, sticking to a half smoked cigarette that you desperately need for this road trip. With its fast paced rhythm and a dirty organ line that smells of espionage, you will feel like the getaway driver from the unscheduled getaway you just pulled off. The band’s more avant garde influences come shining to the fore in in the final track, “Celaphane Dreams”. The vocals start off as spacey--to remind you that there is a place better than this but then fiendishly remind you that you are not there yet with a gritty voice that belts out at you during the chorus. The genre switching blend of music retains the band’s sometimes confrontational wit and makes it even more subversive by wrapping it in such powerful music. Get in your car, turn up the volume on “Burn Baby, Burn”, head towards the desert, and shut up already.
